Enjoy Strawberry Season: 6 Family-Friendly Strawberry Picking Spots in Berlin

There is so much to look forward to in the summer season. One of our favorites is fragrant, juicy, sun-kissed strawberries. The only thing we love more than eating strawberries is eating strawberries we picked as part of a fun-filled family adventure. As the weather warms up, it’s an excellent opportunity to visit some family-friendly strawberry-picking spots in and around Berlin. 

We are happy to share some of our favorite spots for picking your own berries and enjoying lots of strawberry-themed activities and treats to celebrate the season as a family. Not only will your baskets be brimming with delicious berries, but the memories you create will be just as sweet.

Top Places for Strawberry Picking near Berlin

Neumanns Erntegarten

Located in Potsdam, Neumann’s Erntegarten offers a variety of fruit for you and your family to pick throughout the year. From April until October, the farm provides different fruit offerings as they come into season, making it worth a visit throughout the year. While other times of the year have apples, plums, grapes, and many more fruits on offer, from around June to July, you can visit to pick wonderful ripe strawberries. Bring your own containers to fill with delicious fruit, or purchase them from the farm.

The farm has something for everyone to ensure it’s a great visit. In addition to picking your fruit to bring home, they also have a lovely courtyard, a wood stove, a classroom for workshops, and a play area for young children with picnic tables and a cafe to rest and recharge on a break from strawberry picking. Important to keep in mind is that Neumanns Erntegarten is a real working farm, so come prepared with clothes that can get dirty and sturdy shoes or rubber boots.  

Fee: Admission is paid at entry and is 3€ per person over 3 years old. Admission will be charged for harvests of 3 kg per person.

How to Reach it: The trip takes about an hour with public transport from Berlin. The Sbahn can be taken to Potsdam, followed by a bus to Heineberg.

Opening Hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM. with entrance to pick closing at 5 PM. Their cafe is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Spargelhof Winkelmanns

Maybe best known as an Asparagus Farm, Spargelhof Winkelmanns grows fruits and vegetables available to purchase and pick year-round. On the farm, you can pick strawberries, blueberries, and potatoes, depending on the season. In addition to fruit picking, there are many other activities to enjoy on the farm. Be sure to stop at the farm shop for delicious and seasonal homemade items from the region. You can also stop by the barn on the property, which sells various souvenirs, toys, and decorations. 

The farm is also home to a nature reserve with deer and a petting zoo with sheep and goats. There will undoubtedly be plenty to enjoy whenever you visit, with a corn maze accessible from July, a playground with a big slide, and even multiple climbing forests for kids aged 3 and up. After all the activities, you can also find great places to eat on the farm, including their sit-down restaurant or the barn for takeaway food, both with a seasonal kitchen. For a quick snack, visit the on-site bakery, ice cream parlor, and the blueberry cafe (seasonal), where you will find fantastic food made with fresh ingredients.

Fee: 500g bowl 2.50€, 1kg basket 5€, 2kg basket 10€ (containers must also be purchased).

How to Reach it: Catch a regional train from Berlin to Werder (Havel) and then a bus to Klaistow, Spargelhof.

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, Saturday & Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM self-pick closes at 5:30 PM.

SL Gartenbau

SL Gartenbau is best known as a farm that grows Chicory, but they also produce a variety of other fruits available from the farm when in season. The strawberry season is now open at the farm for visitors to fill their baskets by picking the ripe fruit themselves or for purchase in prepackaged baskets. 

At the farm, you will find many varieties of strawberries that you can select depending on what you are looking to do with them. For example, they have strawberry varieties specifically for jams, cakes, and other baked goods, or ones perfect to snack on. Of course, you can pick your favorites or choose a selection of different varieties to take home and enjoy.

Fee: the website doesn’t specify a price, but it is updated regularly, or there is a phone number for more information.

How to Reach it: This location is most easily reached by car but can be reached with public transport by taking the S25 to Hennigsdorf, followed by a regional train RB55 to Bärenklau and the 812 bus to Neu Vehlefanz, Wendeplatz, it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station.

Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Pamona Gartenbau

If you are looking for variety, you can definitely find it at Pamona Gartenbau. The farm offers options for fruit to self-pick throughout the year, starting in February and going to October. The season is filled with ripe fruits to pick and enjoy. The farm has berries, apples, pears, plums, and more. The website is always up to date with what’s in season and ready for harvesting.

In addition to picking your own fruit, a farm shop also offers fresh fruits and vegetables and homemade goods such as jams, spreads, and apple juice. Eggs, homemade pasta, and various oils and vinegar can also be purchased in the shop.  While the farm is open throughout the season for self-picking of fruit, it is a working farm, and the website encourages visitors to call before visiting to ensure the weather allows visits to the fields and there is enough ripe fruit to pick 

Fee: The price is not listed but calculated by weight.

How to Reach it: Take the RE or an ICE train to Bernau, followed by a bus to Elisenau, Seestr.

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8 AM – 7 PM, last admission: 6.30 PM. The farm shop is closed on Sunday and Monday.

BB Brandenburg

If you are looking for a nature retreat outside the city, the village of Wesendahl is an excellent place for a day trip or a longer visit. Known for its apples, there are also many other activities to enjoy, including strawberry picking at BB Brandenburg during summer. In addition to the beautiful nature and fruit picking, the area in Maerkische Oderland is also a place to enjoy the surroundings with activities including horseback riding, hiking, biking, and much more. 

BB Brandenburg is a real farm located in the region. Make sure to call ahead to ensure that there is fruit still available. The farm offers a convenient “pick-you-own” hotline to provide the most up-to-date information to make the most of your trip.

How to Reach it: Catch the S5 to Strausberg Nord, followed by a bus to Wesendahl.

Opening Hours: Daily from 8 AM. to 8 PM while available.

Bonus: Karl’s Erdbeerhof Elstal

While the Erdbeerhof in Elstal doesn’t actually offer strawberry picking, there is so much to do at this strawberry-themed adventure park that makes it worth the visit. As strawberry-themed stands pop up all over Germany to sell fresh strawberries, Karl’s also has multiple stores and adventure parks around the country that make excellent destinations. Just outside Berlin in Elstal, Karls Erdbeerhof offers a whole theme park with a sweet strawberry theme. This family-friendly spot is packed with activities, including rides, a petting zoo, playgrounds, and crafts. The Elstal location also has amazing strawberry treats and a shop with many delicious items to bring home.

Fee: Entrance is free, with some attractions requiring a fee, or you can purchase a day pass for 20 per person for easy entry to most attractions. A yearly subscription pass for 3per person per month is also available, which allows entrance to most attractions and special deals and discounts throughout the year. 

How to Reach It: Catch the regional train to Elstal, then hop into a taxi or bus, or take a 30-minute walk to the Erdbeerhof.

Opening Hours: Daily, 8 AM – 7 PM, 7 AM – 8 PM in the summer months.

These beautiful places offer more than just strawberry picking; they offer a fun-filled day of exploration and learning about nature.
